William”Bill”Scherbak: Born in Cleveland Ohio, 1940. Now living in Thomasville NC.
Bill always had an interest in art and as a child would take time from a busy play schedule to express himself creatively with drawing. At thirteen he began guitar lessons. Before the year was out he had his first paying job in a polka band. From there he moved on to Rock&Roll and progressed to jazz.
After a stint in the Air Force, he attended the University of Missouri which led to a life- long career in business. Throughout his career, his creative side kept tugging at him and he would occasionally pick up a paint brush.
About five years ago he began painting in earnest. He took some classes and was fortunate enough to meet Stephen Sebastian, an internationally known artist, who both mentored and encouraged him. Bills’ wife Becky, also an artist, is his toughest critic and strongest supporter. Bill works in watercolor, oil and acrylics.
Beside his family of five children and as many grandchildren, his other passions are, sailing, golf and music. You will find these themes in many of his paintings.
He retired at the end of December 2007 to devote his time to art and life.
